Prop 8 ----> My reaction

So, if anyone hasn't heard, proposition 8 was passed. Proposition 8 is a law in California that rescinds the right for gay marriage. Basically, some idiots in California decided that love has to have rules. I am extremely outraged that anyone in this world is ignorant enough to tell someone who they can and cannot marry.
This law kind of reminds me of Noah's Arc, how people are being herded two by two. Except those people don't have the choice of being herded with their own kind. They have to be herded with a different animal because some idiot with a big stick said so? I mean, we are basically being told who we can be with. That two women who are deeply in love can't express their love and become married.
What's next? Are we going to be told that we have to marry our own race? That a Caucasian can't marry an African-American?
I fully believe that anyone, including the Govenator, who belives that someone's love has to fit a certain mold, hasn't seen the purity of love that can exsist between two women, or two men.

What I did on my reading week....

So, I know that my blog is late, and the reason is that I was on reading week and did not have my assignments due page that Theresa graciously supplied to us. Besides completely flaking on not only my blog assignment but I also flaked on working on my civic literacy assignment.

During the reading week, I completely planned on emailing a list of question to a couple of friends regarding my civic literacy presentation that thankfully is not due until Nov. 25. Not only did I forget my question back in my residence, I tried to email friends and no one had their packages...:(. I also finished my news journals that were due the beginning of reading week.

Okay!! Enough boring things! Lets talk about the fun things that I did during reading week. Besides baking an amazing apple crisp that turned out D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!, I got to see alot of old friends. I also went to the bars with my boyfriend and some friends. We played some pool, which I lost every game, but we also went to the bars and danced forever! We also went to the strippers, which was my first time for that. It was a very interesting experiance, I enjoyed the creativity, and the music, but the ratio of natural to non-natural was dissapointing.

Overall, I had a really fun and eventful reading week! I hope everyone else did!!

News Journals!

So I was compelled to write about something compelling and came upon the conclusion that I have nothing compelling to write about. So I decided to write about news journals, and the joy of them. For those who don't know what a news journal is, it is a 6-8 paragraph piece about a newspaper article of our choice. In this piece, we are suppose to write about how the article makes us feel, how it should make the general public feel etc. Basically, we write about how we feel. It's like a big group hug.
Well, for our Print Journalism course, we are suppose to write three of these a week and have them submitted. So far, I've had a fun time with them. But lately, and this is not meant to be offensive, I feel like I haven't found anything in the news that compels me. And it really started to bother me because I hate feeling like I have nothing to do. That is, until one of my classmate mentioned this site that has a billion different newspapers listed for our convenience. So now I'm happy that I'm not stuck anymore. And I look 'forward' to writing about the news....

Bell is a los[er]

Damn, what am I going to blog about? Just kidding Thersea.

So. Who out there has some sort of Bell service? Well, I do. I arrived at college with a landline that I had paid for, so that my mom wouldn't go crazy with seperation anxiety. I also arrived with an iMac; which I decided to order internet for. Why don't you have wireless, you all wonder? Well, my desktop doesn't have a strong enough signal to load pages, so therefore, a modem was needed. I made the BRILLIANT decision to choose Bell, thinking I'd get a bundle and get a deal. Little did I know what a hassle it would turn out to be.

I called Bell to set up my service, the telephone person that took my order was efficient and
friendly, and only once did she have to contact me back to double check a couple things. So, the story is suppose to end with me receiving my modem, hooking it up into my computer and waiting one short week to have full internet. The story definatly did NOT end like that.

First! I guess the person that had my room, in residence, didn't cancel their own service, so that delayed my getting my user number etc. I, excitedly, revieved my modem within 2 days, only to find out, that I have no idea what to do with it. So Bell promised to send someone out to hook up my modem, install a second phone line (have a desktop and a phone line, I needed the second plug in), and be on their merry way. I, sadly, had to be at work that night, so I left my door open and my room mates promised to let the guy in. I return home from work, only to find out that NO ONE SHOWED UP!. I definatly was a little peeved.

I called Bell the next day to lodge a complaint, and talked to a very nice lady who was very sympathitic over the situation. Promised that a service worker would be out the very next business day. And yet again, I had to work, so yet again! I left my door open and YET AGAIN! No one should up. Not only am I outraged at the audacity of the company, but many outraged that this happened twice. TWICE!.

So, I called the company, left a very pleasent message and proceeded with my night. One of my room mates boyfriends came over, and I mentioned my situation to him, and he looks at me and simply says "Oh, I can hook that up for you.". Not only am I now feeling like an idiot that I didn't mention this before, but now I have dealt with this crap for three days, wasted my feelings on something that could have been fixed so easily.

Moral of the story: Do trust others to do something you could have done yourself.

Britania :)

UPDATE! Bell is an idiot. I revieved a modem today, an extra modem. Now I have two. I swear, if they charge me.......
